Sage Advice is a column offering information, suggestions, and guidance to help navigate issues and concerns related to everyday life. It appears in six local community newspapers published monthly by Hometown News: Brookhaven Buzz, Decatur Dispatch, Lilburn Living, Norcross News, Ponce Press, and Tucker Times. The papers are distributed free of charge in numerous locations throughout the various communities.
The column is reviewed and responses are written by Pegge Riley, LPC and Angela Wacht, LPC, Counselors and Directors of Sage Counseling Center. While Pegge and Angela are both Professional Counselors, the advice in the column is not intended as actual counseling or to take the place of counseling; instead, the column provides general suggestions and guidance about issues one may encounter in day-to-day life.
Indeed, counseling and psychotherapy is not about "advice giving." As Professional Counselors, we are trained to avoid giving advice and instructions to our clients; rather we learn how to listen and learn from our clients ways in which we can assist them in finding their own answers and solutions, and making their own choices and decisions.
In the Sage Advice column, we welcome your questions and inquiries about concerns, frustrations, and dilemmas you may encounter in everyday life. And we will follow up with a written response that will either be selected for publication in the Hometown Newspapers or will be emailed directly back to you. However, if you feel that you need more direct and specific support related to something that surpasses an "everyday" type of issue, please feel free to contact us directly at Sage Center and we will be happy to provide more detailed information regarding actual counseling and psychotherapy services and to assist you in determining what is right for you.
